One of my fondest memories was of a guy I knew and his "Nomad". We used to sit on the tailgate Fri. nights and watch 'em all driving past. He would say stuff like, "No it's not a No Mad, and No Mad for me but No Mad for him." He would also say to me, "..say good night stan. No, I'd say. Com'on! he replies, say good night. Ok. good night, to which he replied gooooood niight" And,.."say you do stan. ok good night, I'd say. No, Say you do, he'would say. SoI'd say, ok I do. To which he would reply, gooood niiight. We spent hours just hanging out. It was great. We didn't talk about anything except how the Nomad would be great at the drive in or on fishing trips.Or how the tail gate needed a part, or how all the interior trim was still there. Summer memories I guess, but it was great.
Anyway, back to today. I recently bought a center section for our 57 4dht, but it's too long. When I look up these center sections I keep seeing that they are not made for, "wagons", so perhaps this is what I have. Would this include Nomads too? What about the "other wagons"?
I realize all "wagons" are not Nomads so any help would be appreciated. The first "wagon" I ever saw here in town was a 57 Nomad. My buddies was a 55. Wow!

"57 rear bumper center section is the same for Nomad, wagon and sedan delivery. It should fit on your hardtop just fine. I'm not sure why yours doesn't fit. Is yours a reproduction or an original?

How can I tell if it's an original or not?
My catalog says- "Rear, CENTER, ea, exc. wagon" then gives a price.
Being too long for my application I am assuming it might possibly be for a wagon. It looks like my old one.
The old one measures 58 1/2". This "new" one measures 59"
Both measurements are from end to end at the bottom of the bumper.

The bumper center sections "should" be the same length. The difference is the license plate light due to the location of the license plate. ..... Link to bumpers.
I had a bad experience with a repop rear bumper for my 57.

The bumpers for the Nomads and wagons only differ in the license plate area, as stated. The car bumpers have a notch in the center of them facing the body where the license plate light goes. The wagon/Nomad bumpers don't have this because the license plate mounts on the bumper and the tag lights are in the guards. So if your bumper has the notch, it is for a car and probably a bad repop. Even the wagon bumper fits the cars and vice versa. Putting a Nomad bumper on a car and taking the tag off the gate is a popular modification. I have to find a wagon center section myself (looking for original) because my Handyman has a car center section on it.

acardon thanks for the link. Interesting ideas from that one...put the tag down below, move the lights up. Let them shine onto the trunk on just the V, maybe.
wagonman100 good info thanks...hope the measurement helps. Good luck on you quest. Personally I'd be content with a decent plain 'ol center section.
