Anyone ever put a shroud on a 6 cyl (56)? If so where did you get it. I got one from Mutton Hollow but I've tried everything and it just doesn't fit. I don't want to chop up my Chevy radiator support or modify the shroud. Mark from Mutton Hollow says it will fit but it isn't like the one in the picture on the web page. Got a few scratches on it from trying all different position so I doubt he will take it back.
Anyway like to know about one that fits.
Thanks
Bud

One thing is when it is flush against the radiator, it sticks to far into the engine compartment so the fan is totally in the shroud. It needs to be back to where it fits up into the curvature of the top radiator support.
With the radiator adjusted all the way out (toward the front) the shroud need to have about 3/4 inch trimmed off the back of it to have the correct depth and then there is no way to mount it (that I can find anyway).
It doesn't have flanges to slip into the existing radiator bolts.
Even of all of the above didn't exist, it is not centered around the fan. Blade barely misses the top and has lots of room on the bottom.
It's prob for a V8 with radiator in 6 cyl position
but I don't see how it woud work even for that.
Hope I didn't put you to sleep with this diatribe!
Thanks fer listenin"

Bud - send the shroud back, TELL them what you just told us. For the best fit, get some posterboard for templates and make your own. I'm sure you can find a hot rod or sheet metal shop to help with the bends if need be. Check out the cut-off rack at your metal supply for material. I'd think .030 or .040" thick steel or aluminum would work, easy to work with hand sheers and pop rivets.

I need to build a shroud for my Fulie V-8. I'm thinking of just a box I can bolt to the radiator bolts, with just a hole cut for the fan. Or, just a hoop with 4 tabs to bolt it on.

IMO, a six shouldn't need a shroud with a CLEAN cooling system and a good tune-up. Make sure the vacuum advance works. Set the timing for 8-degrees advanced on the Octane Selector with 87 gas. My 235 runs between 180 and 190, ALWAYS below 200 degrees.

Good Luck, Tim

Nice tips Tim-I might try to make my own like that. I have seen homemade ones at car shows that look great.
My chevy runs cool but I want a shroud anyway. I have run out of projects, I guess

Come out west Bud - I got plenty of projects I can share. I don't pay worth a damn, but will do my best to keep ya drunk and fed!

Post a pic of what you come up with!

Take Care, Tim

I returned my shroud to Mutton Hollow in Utah.
Mark accepted it and returned my money even though I did scratch it just a little.
Just to let folks know.
Bud
