Hello all Its been some time since I last posted, I had the 1959 Impala in the garage and focused on work but now its getting worked on. We swapped the tripower with a new single four barrel carb and carb.
The engine runs like a champ with good iddle but it does run a bit hot.
Do u guys think the timing is off?
What should the timing be set at? I have no Idea on setting/adjusting it.
I know yall like pictures so here you go.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Haha..Very true. I pulled it to later restore it. Want to run the new set up for a while, untill the car gos under the knife for a frame off. Long time from now before that happens.

The timing can effect overheating, but I don't know about that.

Is your rad in good shape, been flushed? Is the fan blade half in half out of the fan shroud? Has it actually overheated or are you just judging the temp by the gauge? Check with an IR gun on the thermostat housing. I assume you have a new thermostat, a 160 or 180?

Nice looking engine, did you rebuild it or just clean it up? Is it original to the car?

No rebuild just cleaned up with new gaskets, intake and carb. Still smokes hahaha... But it sure runs good with no troubles other than the heat.
I noticed it runs aroun 200 on the guage and after I parket I cant touch the hood or grill due to the radiating heat.
Today we are going to connect the vaccum to the distributor and check the timming, see if that helps.
Im not sure what you ment on the fan but here is a pic.

Funk, there are also lots of posts on this subject, if you do a search you might find something else.

Regarding the half in half out, yours looks OK from the pics- standing at the side if you look at the fan, the blades should be half inside the shroud, half outside.

Glad you got it better, but keep asking if you need help.
