my A6 is leaking out the front seal. it is just out of warnety. all new parts [now 1 yr old] and changed to 134.
i have a clutch tool.my ? is how do you get the seal out and back in.
i can get a seal for $24, whereas a reman A6 cost $200 + tax.
any help is appreciated

You'll still need the snapring tool and also the remove/install tool to latch onto that seal assembly and pull it out.

I did not know you could replace the seal. I dont want to hijack you thread but since you asked i would like to know also. I have the other type compressor with r134 and the coolant is leaking at the pulley. Is there a seal to replace? Or do I need to buy a new compressor?

My local rebuilder charged me $97 to change the seals. All of them, plus check the compressor. The bearing and stuff checked out. I put it back in and charged it up. It can blow down to 60 degrees on 100+ temp day! It's worth to have a shop change it if they do a complete compressor check. It was like buying a new compressor. Yes, mine is a R4 with a serpentine belt setup.
