Bought My 99 Tahoe Used and I was Told that the
Trans was rebuilt not to long before i bought it
I Gave the Tahoe to My Daughter to drive and she has had no complaints with it,I Drove it to a Job I have in the Mountains about 50 Miles away, Drove Great up to the Jobsite and on the way back I Got into town and it started to shift really hard just
when i got back into town Did it about three times
(May i add that the weather was very Cool and it was raining) well I got home and Lifted the Hood and
it Smelled Hot and Like Hot Trans Fluid,I Checked underneath and i couldn't find any leaks!
any Suggestions? I Checked Fluid and it Looked Full with engine Running! Should i add Something like LUCAS additive for Hard Shifting?
Thanks For any Info!

NO!
No additives! They drive GM sprauges into the trash bin.
Check that fuel filter.

Sounds crazy, I know.....But if the engine isn't running at its peak efficiency the shifts will be stupid (sometimes).
Fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, Idle air control valve, throttle position sensor, ect. can all effect the shift.

I Changed the trans Fluid&Filter just to see what condition they looked like, the pan was as clean as a
whistle inside and nothing on the magnet at all!
I had a check engine light on so i took it to Autozone and they said something about a loose Vacuum line and sensors on the Cat,so i went home
and found a bad Vacuum line on the PCV valve.
I changed the PCV and vacuum hose this weekend and
my daughter was home this weekend and went back this morning and said it ran fine when she got into
Flagstaff this morning and didn't shift hard at all like it has been,Could that Vacuum have affected it in shifting Hard?
Hope it fixed it anyway!
Thanks again,
Allen

I Didn't mention it, but yes, there is a brand new fuel filter on it,changed that out weeks ago when
my daughter was in town but it still shifted hard!
really think the problem was with that Vacuum line!
Hope it's cured anyway!
Thanks Again!
