i have a 1990 chevy k1500 4wd 350eng

the problem im have is everytime i put it in R or D it stumbles and dies? i replaced the plugs/wire, did oil change, replaced fuel filter, fuel pump, egr vacuum solenoid, idle air control, coolant temp sensor.

it runs great in park and N but if i want to drive it i have to double foot it to keep it going it only does it once warmed up....so any suggestions? im stumped what it could be

thanks for your help

when you replaced the IAC did you disconnect the battery?
Do you have any codes?
How was the port where the IAC pintle rests? did you clean it out?
It is possible the throttle body could be gummed up.
Unhooking the battery should relearn the idle.

Hi Andrew,

Do you have a tach you can connect to tell us what the "in park" idle speed is?

Also, is this a new problem that cropped up after work was done, or the parts you replaced were all because you were trying to solve this problem?

I was wondering if you could get a picture of your egr solenoid and where all the hoses are going, very often people connect them wrong and the result is what you see here. Either that or it is bad and did you replace that with your egr?

it is always good to check to be sure. Also can you manually control the egr servo? maybe the egr is not working properly

I hate to be a pain but from my experience here it has happened where it was hooked up wrong to begin with but that didn't cause said issue because the egr was bad, once the egr was fixed then the wrong hosing showed itself.

Just double check, the solenoid has 3 ports, one is vacuum from engine, one is switched vacuum to egr and one is vent.

-When egr is off the hose from EGR is diverted to the vent on the solenoid.

-When the EGR is on the hose from EGR is diverted to the engine vacuum.

commonly the vent on the solenoid comes with a foam filter glued to it but not always. I am sure we can turn up a picture if needed.

EGRs act funny. Can you manually move it like rockfangd said? Mine's a stick and when I started out on the clutch, like you would put yours in gear, it would almost die unless I gassed it up. That seems to be the only thing you haven't replaced.
Keep throwing money at it, it'll get better...

make sure the code is cleared and then check again to see if it shows up again, common to find wireharness damage and the sensor isn't the problem but wiring or ground.
