I'm having a heck of a time adjusting the hood on my 60; but I did find this article on hood adjustment (it applies to a 64)and I intend to study it thoroughly, maybe it will tell me how to get the corner of my hood down in the back passenger side about 1/4 inch. Thought I would post it; maybe someone else would have a comment.

Uhhhh..... that website is fine if you're cooking a pork roast, but not so much for hood alignments.
However, loosen the back bolt(s) on the fender side(s) and have someone push up as far as possible on the front of the hood while you tighten the bolts. What this does is rotate the hinge assembly downward at the back, bringing the back edge of the hood down with it. Should do the trick. Don't loosen the front bolts at the fender side(s).

What problem are you trying to fix? Can you post a picture of what you have?

This works better!

Don't know how to post pics; but maybe I can describe it. On the passenger side, at the cowl, the corner and part of the edge of the hood sticks up about 1/4 inch above the fender. Granted, it may be that the fender is not perfect, but I can push the hood down with my hand and it ALMOST fits.
There are two bolts attaching the hinge to the cowl, and another that attaches to the fender well. It looks as if the hinge is adjusted "down" as far as it will go at the cowl; that is to say, it looks as if the slots in the hinge are bottomed out on the hinge bolts at the cowl. I dinked around with it today and I think I made it worse.

There are two bolts on the cowl side and one on the fender side. I am confused...

There was a similar posting recently. I shimmed the front hinge-to-hood bolt to align the rear of the hood with the cowl. That way when the hood is closed at the front, the hinge will have closed further than previously, which lowers the rear of the hood. Others were keen on rebuilding the hinge, which might be a necessity if the hinge is worn or out of shape.
Cheers

Sorry, Dennis. I was thinking about the hinges on my '62.

Brooke is correct. Place shims between the hinge and the hood as he described. That pushes the corner down.

I had the exact same issue with the hood on my 60. could push down on it and it would line up. As soon as ya drive it, up it goes. Tried the shim thing. Nada. So! I took the hinge off, hogged out the holes to the cowl so the hinge would move down lower. Boom! done fits perfect, stays put.

Been too hot to mess with it lately, but I'm saving this thread and will keep that in mind. After working in the yard for a couple hours, and drinking a beer to cool off, I could care less how the hood fits!

If you're going to ask advice on how to drink cold beer on a hot day, this is going to be a long thread...........

All adjustments should be made with the hood latch removed. Line the hood up then install the latch.
If the hood is up in one corner make sure the hinge is not worn out. Two bolts which go into the cowl should be loosened. Then you can move the hood hinge down which will lower the hood..
