Hi guys!

I'm reinstalling my roof rail channel (not the drip rail trim) and I remember there was a flat, black, foam-like seal between the channel and the body. Anyone do this before? What did you use to seal it?

Thanks,

Todd

I used Butyl tape, it is more like a caulk that does not harden and comes in a roll or strips. McMaster Carr or Grainger should have it.

I have some of that. The original stuff reminded me of open celled foam. I guess if it seals it, it doesn't matter what I put there. I think it will have to be about 1/8" thickness though - I seem to remember an issue others had with their windows not sealing against the weather strip despite being rolled up all the way.
