after rebuilding a customer's front end, including new springs, the front end is lower than the rear. he wants it level and high. the car has wagon springs in the rear. he told me that at one time spacers where availeable that could be put in the spring pocket on the lower a arms to raise the front some.we really do not want to go to wagon front springs because the ride will be somewhat stiffer. he plans on driving the car.
if anyone knows where i could get some it would be greaty appreciated.

On the driver side my front end always looked low. The tilt bothered me and the car only looked level when it was parked on the street when it should tilt toward the curb. Also, when I drove on thru the 'S' curve on our local freeways the car felt as if it would curl under on the driver side.

Fix:

Went to a spring shop to have the front coil spring checked, but that wasn't the probelm.

It was the rear passenger side leaf spring. One of the middle leaf springs was broken and a larger one added which caused the tilt. The shop replaced both rear leaf springs with a matched set and I now have a level ride.

E-Bay, do a search for "Gasser parts"; and they come in various thicknesses. They are made of aluminum; there are also some made of hard rubber out there. Butch/56sedandelivery.

In the 70s I wanted my cars a little taller. I used spacers like Summit's to raise the front. It worked for me.

I use these spacers in my alignment shop frequently. A small company in Emporia KS. casts them. I keep them in stock from 1/8 inch to 1 inch. Be advised that in front applications the spacer changes the spring rate and will raise the car 1 1/2 - 2 times the spacer thickness. We use them to level cars that set low on one side. Commonly on 55-57 Chevrolets the upper spring pocket will tweek upward. Call me if you need help sourcing them. I sell them to Chevy Talk members at cost plus shipping. Private message me for my number if I can help

Well in the 70's I put a 4X4 block in place of the shocks... It rode a little stiff! But it did sit higher... until the blocks split!

I believe that the spacers that your customer was talking about are those "C" shaped cast things that go between the upper control arm and the top of the spindle. A lot of guys used them in the 60's to get that gasser look...I have a pair out in the garage, but I suspect that tweaking the rear springs is the way to go. I took one leaf out of the 5 leaf rear springs on my 55 and it lowered the rear an inch and a half, but it surely improved the ride.
After cutting both ends of the front springs, I still had to add blocks in the rear to get that in the weeds stance

What's usually called "ball joint spacers" don't change the ride height at all. You have to put stiffer springs and/or the spacers shown in the previous post to actually change the ride height.

The "ball joint spacers" just let the other things raise the car without running out of travel.

Ball joint spacers can create all kinds of unsafe situations, or at least bad wheel alignment.
