Hi,
I'm finishing a frame off restoration of my 62 Impala and it's time to paint the side moldings again. The car has the following codes:
Trim:886, Paint:936, Style: 62-1867; Body: FR 3198.
Well, I haven't found the painting code for the mouldings. I think it should be red, but what kind of red? Somebody could help me?
Thanks.

The side moldings color for your car is Roman Red. This is info is avaiable from the engineering specifications at the GM Heritage Center website - under the archives section. The color varies with trim and paint numbers.

Follow up to last post - the Ditzler Paint No for Roman Red is DDL70961. Any competent paint supply store should be able to mix this for you.

Many Thanks!
I'll post some pictures about the restoration. It's more than 2 years of work.

Be careful when you pick the Roman Red, because there are more than one shade of Roman Red. It changed shades, and part numbers, but the name remained the same. I have run into this more then once while researching colors.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

The guys from the painting shop found the Roman Red composition. It's matching with the paint color code for 62 Impala. I can get the composition tomorrow. They told me the Roman Red is a blending of 4 colors.
Thank you.
