Today I finished my wiring harness and spent the whole afternoon testing leads and charging my battery. Long story short, the wiring has turned out pretty good. I have an old turn signal add on that seems to be shot and a grounding issue with the brake light switch. The dash lights, gauges, parking lamps, and headlights are all running top notch. The horns are still shorting somewhere inside as they blew two fuses. The engine cranks real nice and we thought we were going to get it started, but alas, not quite yet. Can't wait for tomorrow! Thanks for the advice throughout this project. Hearing that 12 volt system cranking was like the call of the wild and seeing all those lights lit up after dark has made it worth the exhaustion and pain!

What harness did you go with? I did painless.... It looked like hell at first, but after starting and wiring it was actually PAINLESS!

I did the Rebel Wire 21 circuit. It's been pretty easy. I'm just having trouble with the coil/resistor set up. I think I wired wrong and that's why we didn't get it started. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and double check my wiring. It's confusing because their diagram shows two pink coil wires going to the resistor. When I talked to them a few days back, they said some cars didn't have that so we thought my car was one of those. There is a big post that is linked to the crank motor with an L bracket; does the coil wire from the ignition go to that? I'm confused...unfortunately, my solenoid doesn't have the posts labeled like all the pics i've seen. I know the big one that isn't linked to the crank motor is Red Pos from battery, fusible link to red starter wire, and Alternator one wire. I put nothing on the bracketed wire, and the purple ignition wire to the small post which I assumed was "S" for starter. We'll get her figured out tomorrow!

You don't want to crank the 6v starter with the 12v battery for an extended period of time.

You mentioned a turn signal switch. I am held up on finishing the rewire of my 48 because of the turn signal switch. It has a Signal Stat 900 7 wires on it. My parts house had a 900 but it was for a F**d and only 6 wires. He got me another and it was only 6 wires. They both had connectors on the ends. My 7 wire is just individual wires.
Hope he gets is soon.

Well, you know what's wrong with the world today

People done gone and put their Bible's away

They're living by the law of the jungle not the law of the land
