I have a 72 nova with a 350 small block motor in it we rebuilt. put new main, rings on it we put different heads on it then what was on it before we tore it down now it is getting hot. when it is running it reaches temps of 230 and greater. when we cut it off we hear the water boiling in it. Can anyone tell me what may be the problem with it, its driving us crazy because it didnt run hot before we tore it down and reason why we tore it down is bc it had no oil pressure, now the oil pressure is at 75.

Welcome to Chevytalk!
What thermostat are you running.
Is the radiator cap good?
What is the temperature of the lower radiator hose (if the thermostat is open)
You should have a 40 degree difference between the top and bottom hoses if EVERYTHING is working properly.
You have:
1 - a stuck closed thermostat
2 - a defective water pump
3 - a seriously clogged radiator
4 - a bad fan clutch
I put them in order of diagnosis and most likely cause.

Did you happen to put the intake gaskets on backwards and block the water passages?

that's really all i can think of, i'd check the water pump or the fan clutch, it's gotta be one or the other
