I'm needing to relocate the pedals to the firewall. At least the gas pedal. Anyone done this and happen to have pictures of your setup? I have no clue how the gas pedal works or how it would be installed on the firewall. I hope I'll be able to drive it with just that modification after converting it to an automatic. I've done some google searches and found some basic stuff but nothing that really explains the steps or peddles out of what would work.

I'm not following, are you looking to use your original pedal set up, or aftermarket?
If aftermarket, I went with the Lokar set-up.
I sealed up (welded) the stock holes in the floorboard from the stock up. I also used an aftermarket (mr gasket i believe) throttle cable kit.
I can take some pics of mine if thats what your looking for. Jeff

This is how I installed my gas peddle.

My apologies. I should have been more clear. I'm wanting to go with aftermarket pedals ( or something used that would work ). The problem I have is I have a fake right leg and it doesn't have an ankle with which to press the gas pedal in with when it's on the floor. Moving the pedal up would allow me to push it with my leg and not have to have a functioning ankle ( I hope ) . Thanks a bunch for all the responses and helpful pictures.

I'll try and get a picture of what I'm actually needing to do.

Not the best photo but this is what I'm after. Not such a complicated setup though.

This might work. I just have to be able to stomp it versus push with my foot.

Think you would have to use your ankle to push it down without moving your whole body down on it. Don't know how you could just push with your leg. Not saying that you can't but.... Like I said, it is a Lokar pedal asssembly with cable that goes to the carb. Hope you can make it work!!! Can you get one like in the picture and modify it to work for you?

DUH!!! Forgot about your knees! Does your knee bend? If so then I bet this one would work.

Lokar makes another type of pedal that I used on my 41. The cable pivots off the bottom of the pedal and you don't see any hardware inside the car. I run a Holley 4bbl on my 235 and a 24" cable fit perfectly.

Here's a picture of the pedal mounted to the transmission cover. You can mount it to the firewall the same way. I had to raise mine up 3/4" so the cable arm would clear the bell housing.

I do still have a functioning knee so am lucky there. I belong to a amputee support group and its quite comical at times. Show n tell if you will. People pulling off prosthetics and passing them around for others to look at. Lol

One older guy drives his truck and has prosthetics on both legs. Crazy stuff!

I'm trying to learn how the peddles attach and maybe in doing so I'll have a better understanding of what would work.

I just know fastened to the floor although comical watching won't work. Lol

Hand controls are an option but I was wanting to avoid it if possible.

It's the Lokar "Eliminator" pedal that you're talking about. Below is a link with images and instructions for mounting. For this specialized situation I'm sure the pedal could be mounted as high/low/or even sideways on the toeboard to facilitate use. I used one in a Henry J several years ago.
