Anyone ever experience having the bottom O2 sensor
blow out of the y-pipe while going up a steep hill
with no load aside from the weight of the vehicle?
I did, today. 93 C1500 W/T with 4.3 liter. The
O2 sensor blew out and the exhaust got real loud.
At first I though it was a split exhaust, not so.
Now the million dollar question, it seems that it
rusted around the threads. Is there a cheap fix
that will put it back until I can save up for a
new exhaust system and O2 sensor?

a couple things to think of.
if sensor was replaced it may have messed the threads.
They sell a bung for the o2 sensor if you can weld.
They even have a clamp on bung now that acts as a band clamp around the pipe and all that is required is to drill the hole in the pipe.
To me though welding a new bung is probably the best thing to do.
they can blow out when they rot.
But the real question is how good is the rest of the crossover pipe

I bet you the bung is o.k. and the sensor blew apart, are there any threads on the sensor? I am thinking the threaded section is still in there...

If the o2 sensor blew out, I would also look at the cat converter to see if it is plugged up at all.
