hello,

did an ls1 swap into a 65 impala. ran the engine for 100 miles with no exhaust, only headers.

took the car and had an exhaust put on it. now car is throwing an p0300 random misfire code. took it to a friend with a level 2 scanner. scanner said random misfire, cyl #6 was 25% of the time.

removed injectors, backwashed them the way you see on youtube. all cleaned out and had nice flow when done.

ohmed plug wires, two were bad. wires were custom wires made by scott custom wire. they replaced the set.

while waiting for the wires, I checked compression. 185 on all 8. weird how they are all so close.

looked at plugs. they are bosch iridium. the were clean on the tip, but a little brown on the outside of the plugs. when installing, I put a small amount of aluminum anti-seize on them to cut down on galvanic corrosion.

reset computer and still get this code. Engine runs like crap. Can hear gas exploding in the exhaust.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Have you swapped coils? Does it backfire on both sides?

got tired of replacing parts. took the car to East Coast Supercharging. Paid the 400 for the tune. Found out the fuel was trimmed way to rich, thus the problems. he dialed them back %25 and the check engine light went off and no more explosions in the exhaust.

Can be very frustrating not knowing exactly what the engine is trying to tell you.

I've been there several times.

Glad it is running!
