Does any one know of a house brand one wire hi output alternator from one of the typical autoparts strore. I called and unless they can search using a model year, etc. the folks can't help. I have a 140 amp I bought from a rod shop in Dallas when I lived there, but do not know of a place in the Houston that may stock them.

Original equipment GM vehicles do not use a one wire alternator. One wire alternators are an aftermarket thing.

I think 1 wire alternators are available from auto parts stores(with real person at the desk) with much greater output then 3 wire.

Do you have a list? Of auto supplies with a real person at the desk, of course.

I did a search for 140 amp 1 wire alternator and it looks like there are several sources. Jegs has them:

just look in the phone book and contact a starter, alternater shop in your area because they will be more helpful.

My Napa and Oreilys and Advanced in Rice Lake Wi usually have atleast one person that knows what a hot rodder needs without having to explain and search the computer by car make/year/engine etc.

I thought mine was going south, as I have noticed that my tach is bouncing all over the place, except when the headlights are on (weird). Stopped by the O'Reillys and they tested it - all seems to be good - now need to chase the electrical gremlin
