I have done 350 rebuilds but never a 348. Is there any differences that are unique to the 348. Other than the head shape.

I have heard horror stories of "machine shops" not beeing aware of the deck angle, assuming it´s at 90deg like other engines. Needless to say it it turned ugly although i suppose these incidents happened a long time ago..

gotta be careful when installing the pistons and not hurt the rings. other than that, just good rebuilding techniques work.

Don't forget the intake/exhaust push rods are different lengths.

If stock, the piston pins are offset left and right. Rear cam bearing is unique and has to be installed by someone that know that. Rear main has two extra seals along the side that lots of people leave out. Early 58 block has a rope rear seal. Oil pump rod is slightly different. Truck timing chain set is retarded from passenger. Oil slinger on front timing gear always gets lost and oil makes its way up the front breather. Just make sure the builder knows the 348 is different than a SBC.
