Has anyone here installed a six speed gearbox in their Chevy II? If so, I'd like to know how much the floor is going to have to be cut up to fit it. The new transmission is a Richmond with a Long shifter.

Thanks!

The Richmond 5 or 6 speed will probably fit the tunnel. A Muncie or T-10 4 speed fits, the Richmond main case is a bit longer but not taller, so near the end of its main case is where there will be a problem if there is one.

I don't think you'll have to do a major cut and weld of whole tunnel like you might with a Tremec 6 speed, which is longer and taller than the Richmond. At worst you'll just need to make a lump in a local area.
