I have a 65 Belair that I bought that has been painted and needs to be put back together. I did not take it apart so I am at a disadvantage when putting it together. A lot of the parts are self explanatory, but some I cant figure out.The car is a 2 door post and one thing [among many] I cant figure out is on the rear side glass, what goes on the outside for trim ? I have the weatherstrips figured, and I need to install all the glass, but something looks like its misssing around the rear windows on the outside..Does anyone have some close up pictures of what I am describing? Also I need to figure out about the grill instalation as far as what it attaches to and the headlight mounting brackets. Is there some kind of assembly manual I can get that will help? I restore 68 camaros fairly regular so I am quite famaliar with cars being apart[as a matter of fact I am doing full rear quarters and outer wheel housings now], its just I have never done one of these full size cars and need some guidance..I am putting in a 396 and a 4 speed trans soon as I get the big block built, but this trim on the car has me scratching my head a little bit, thanks for any help,,,Mark

When you open the '65'66 Full size forum at the top are "reference materials" . Download the 1965 Assembly Manual it should have all you need . If not I assembled mine just ask !!

You also need to download the 1966 Fisher manual . It has the windows of '66 in it . There is no '65 Fisher manual yet . The only thing where you are talking about (I think) are the inside and outside window fuzzies/felts . They close the gap up between the body and the rear window .Go here . http://stores.restorationspecialties.com/-strse-Be... . I bought a kit with all 8 pieces so I don't know the individual numbers but similar to M141P for inside and YM108X for outside .

its best to use a host site for your pictures. You go to the host site, then copy the link at the site on your picture and paste that link here, the picture will show up.
I use photobucket myself

I will try to figure it out,,thanks for the info..Not much of a computer genius. I did look at the pic of your car and what I am talking about is the outside of the rear side window seems to have something missing as it does not come out even with the door and there are some indentions all the way around the rear side glass area on both sides...Like I said earlier , I did not take it apart..thanks

sounds like the trim piece is missing, which is painted on belairs and biscaynes. There is metal there but the trim makes it more finished.

Exactly what I thought..What attaches them and are they the same for a 65 and 66 ?? Of course that brings on more heartache as I did not get any of the paint with the car and when I called today Dupont has retired the formula..Its called hot rod rootbeer and I dont have a clue where I will get some paint to match,,thanks again,,Mark

If your familiar with Camaros and Novas,68/72 Novas either had stainless side window trim or painted window trim either way. The side trim usually installs with bendable tabs.
I will go outside and double check mine in a little bit.
I know my 68 Nova had the stainless side window trim and I wanted the body color trim so I thought I could just remove it and be done,I was wrong and seen just what you are seeing on yours with the notches and all that need covered.
Yes they should be the same 65/66. I know where a 65 belair is right now thats complete but very rusty and the guy wants 800 for the car with just a 6 cyl.

Thanks, I thought I got this car reasonable, but by the time I buy new bumpers, weather strip and some missing trim, it may be questionable.Have you had any experience with these aftermarket bumpers? I have some decent cores ,but cant find anyone willing to rechrome them,,I also need front and rear seats for my car..Maybe that 800 dollar car may be cheaper than you think?? I also want to put a 12 bolt under the car as I am rebuilding a 396 for it >>> If you dont mind, let me know what you see on the window trim,,,thanks again,,,mark

Mark,I went and looked at mine real close, didnt find any place where theres any screws visible. I rolled the window down and looked as close as possible but the window welting can hide things. I dont remember any screws when I removed that trim from my 68 Nova either. Just tight fitting trim with small tabs bent over to make the fit tighter.

I will break to this as easy as possible, the interiors for 65/66 Belairs/Biscaynes can be quite expensive. If you had a regular Impala or even a SS the interiors are decently priced, but for our cars they are almost double, trust me Ive been looking.
