Description:
I have a 1972 stingray...after having the engine taken out and re-done I recieved the car back with a problem with spacing on the front end...when looking from the front the whole front end is very slighlty tilted up on the passenger side and down on the drivrs side...the hood is aligned correct but the spacing between the hood and passenger side fender is very tight and on the drivers side there is a larger gap...is there anyway to re-adjust the front end to correct the spacing between the hood and fenders so they are the same width ...any suggestions?? or fixes ?? Like I said...the hood is aligned correct...it's perfectly matched to the grill in front of the wiper door

Sounds like they didn`t align the hood right when they put it back on. If you loosen the hood hinge bolts, you should be able to move it left or right, forward or back, and get the gaps evened out.
As for the height, was there any shims between the hood hinges and body that are not there now?
The only thing I`m sure of, is that I`m not sure of anything.

There is a very slight amount of adjustment on the front clip at the "wishbone" mounting point.

Was it already out of adjustment? Normal engine work shouldn't have affected the front clip alignment in any way...unless someone did something really stupid.

EXACTLY! But the hood and radiator would need to be removed to pull the engine. So my bet is they just dropped the hood back on, and didn`t bother to properly adjust it.

Is a 72 that much different than a 81? I had my engine out to change freeze plugs and didn't have to take the hood off.

Don't mean to hijack, but does anyone know HOW MUCH you can adjust it? I have a '73 where the door clips the fender on the passenger side, at the bottom. I've not gotten to this project yet, but this has me thinking...

Mind you, it's probably the body mounts or some other rust issue, but still, ever lead is worth checking out.

Yup, is it the door sagging, or the body? The only adjustment I know of in the front clip is at the very fr4ont, where the frame extentions come off the front frame. They bolt to the crossmember, and the radiator support bolts to that. The front fenders are supported by the radiator support.
