Hey all.
Going to try for some answers here.
Heres the issue.
Picked up a 1986 4 bolt with a roller cam and gear drive.
Want to switch to double roller chain and gears.
number napa giving me looks like old school gear and chain, 10-3023.I hear roller cam gears 86 up are different.
can anyone confirm correct prt number please.
Theres cam retainer holes at frnt of block.Im reading i dont need a cam runout button if i use a cam retainer plate,,, but ,,will have to grind some material off block to get top gear to clear?
Can someone clear all this confusion.

Get a SEALED POWER p/n from RockAuto.com and have NAPA cross it over. A local machine shop/rebuilder cold also tell you.

To answer my own question, heheh, just in case someone else runs into same issue.cloyes droller 86 up with roller cam.Top gear appears to have slightly more curvature outboard for block clearance, still clears old school cover.
If u use retainer and button u may have to grind a little off block for top gear clearance.
Dont need retainer if u use anti walk cam button from moroso etc,so no grind.
Can run double hump, double springs with stamped rockers but,
U will need 7.2 in. chromoly pushrods.7.8s are for hydraulic.Roller rockers best if u have a unlimited budget.

The 3 holes in the cam sprocket are in a smaller diameter circle on a roller cam engine. That's assuming it has an OE roller cam.
Cloyes P/Ns are:
9-3145 -- Original True Roller
9-3545X9 -- Street Billet True Roller
9-1145 -- Street True Roller
C-3092 -- Heavy Duty Single Roller.
The last one is a very good chain with large rollers, and will fit under a stock timing cover. Some of the others may not.
BTW, ideal push rod length can and will vary with valve length, heads, rocker arms, and decked block/heads. So measure twice, order push rods once.

anyways, what set will work if cam is upgraded to a comp cam roller and not oem?

update on roller 350.
the 10-3023 top gear clears and chain fit.used an old hyd cam lower hardened gear, chain was too tight with the cheapo lower that came with kit, wierd.
had to use heavy duty timing cover, its thicker at cam anti walk button area.had to file a slight bit off aluminum cam button from mr.g.
did not have to use original cam retainer plate.
aftermarket roller cam face large like old hyd cam face/gear mount.
didnt use roller rockers, told im missing full potential using stamped long slots.
all i can say is WoW,i have never seen a smoother running HO350.plus,, revs real quick, smooth power all way through rpm range.
highly recommend the whole roller package.
