I have a 93 Chevy 1 ton dually with a 454, and I noticed a miss after it warmed up. When it misses, the oil pressure gauge spikes. It does this while driving, and also at idle. When idling, it seems like just a slight misfire. The oil pressure gauge normally sits at 30, in the middle of the gauge, but when it misses, it will spike all the way to 60. What is causing this???

I agree, and welcome to Chevytalk. Sure does sound like a ground issue causing some circuits to try grounding through improper paths. Not only should you check the one from the rear of the block to the firewall, but also the same spot on the firewall runs down to the frame. Also there are going to be several grounds from the harness onto the intake, though I forget on the TBI 454 where they exactly hook up. On the TBI small block they attach at and next to the thermostat housing. Probably in a similar area on the big block.

exactly. Yeah the ground from the engine to the frame causes all sorts of issues. and if that one is bad likely the frame to fiewall is just as bad

Ok sweet thank you, I thought it might be an oil pump or something. As you can see by my site name, I am a carpenter guy, and not much of a muh cannic. See? I can't even spell it right. But I think I could even take care of a corroded ground. Haha. Thanks again.

I've got a 1990, 5.7L. I think I've seen a couple of those around the engine compartment. I'm thinking that I might have a ground problem since I've been hearing that proverbial high pitch sound (not loud) through my radio. It seems to increase as the engine revs. Would that be a probable cause?
