my dad has a nice ride but some times when you first start it. it puffs a little smoke. is it valve seals? i heard of puttin some atf fluid in the oil and gas will that work? or would it be best to have the valve seals replaced?

More than likely the valve seals. It could also be clogged oil drain back holes in the heads. My friends truck used to have this happen occassionally. The oil sits in the heads and it also sits on the valve seals and seeps past them. It would smoke on startup and if you sat and idled too long. Didn't do it under normal driving conditions. Best to just replace the seals if they are bad.
