pulled off the black 17" cragar steelies and rubberband tires and put on some 15" wheels with 215/60 tires and 1950 plymouth wheel covers.

i'm liking the way it looks, and i really like the improved ride quality since i've got tires with a sidewall now

thanks guys!

i'm enjoying the softer ride with the 15 inch tires that have a little meat to the sidewalls. overall they are the same height as the 245/45/17's i had on before so nothing has changed with my gearing or cruise rpm. the 17's have migrated to my sonoma and with all the new suspension, steering, and brake parts i threw at the truck a couple months ago it handles like it is glued to the pavement.

plus with the old wheel covers, the car is even more of a sleeper than before. will soon hit the dragstrip and get my 100mph club stickers. the last time i was out i trapped at 101.5mph in the quarter mile. i had gotten the go faster bug and bought some twin turbo headers for it, but once i got the impala SS finished it's faster enough than the 54 that it has satisfied the need for now.

driving the 54 still puts a big smile on my face every time, and people talk to me or turn their heads or flag me down everywhere i go with it. we took it to work one day for fun last week when we didn't need to carry tools, and 5 or 6 people stopped me to talk about it at the gas station, at intersections, and at the house we were working on.

Ha ha! Here we go! Once the bug bites, there's no turning back. Soon the car will be back-halved and tubbed with a blower sticking out of the hood, lol! I've seen it happen so many times. Kidding....

Nice looking car!

There's plenty of room for all God's creatures - right next to the mashed potatoes.
