I know one of you out there is sneaking into my shop and stealing my parts. The latest is the bumpers from the lip of the hood. I had them installed to set the gaps and then I removed them in order to prime and paint and today I looked all over and can't find them.

So whoever is sneaking into the shop and stealing my parts...cut it out!

I've been carrying around the tiny bent link and hair pin clip for my rochester carb in the cup holder of my car for 3 days. I finally went out and reinstalled it today so I wouldn't lose it! Now I can't seem to find my brass ID tag from the carb. I removed it to clean it and do some research and now someone has snuck in and stolen it too!
I drove a '50 from the day I got my license thru college! Sadly, we sold it when I got married. I recently got the chance to buy the same car back from the man I sold it to; but the deal fell through and now I own a nicer one: 4 Dr Styleline Deluxe!

I told my wife the other day "I can't get anything done, I spend half of my time loosing stuff and the other half looking for it.

Maybe that's my problem, someone is steeling my stuff. I just thought it was my age.

Just came up from the garage after painting my firewall. Which one of you came over last night and took my stainless firewall mount bolts that I had stored in one of my dozens of yogurt cups? I know they were here last month!

Parts sneaking away aren't my problem. It is the tools. And Im not even talking about you guys sneaking in during the night to wisk them away. You are doing it while I am in the garage and actually working on the car. I will gather everything I think I need, place it all on my rolling work cart. I will get to work with one tool and pop it off the airline to grab another and it ain't there. Waste a half an hour looking for it and then the cycle repeats throughout the day.

Stop moving my tools around!

When I was doing the 12v conversion on my car I bought the two resistors and DA plug from Speedway. Knowing that I wouldn't be getting to the conversion right away I put everything on my bench for safe keeping. A month goes by and I'm ready - no parts! Kids did you see these parts? no! Wife?? NO! WIFE WIFE WIFE??? NO! NO! NO! (she has a history of moving my stuff)

Fuming and blaming the wife I reorder the parts. Get them installed and two day after find the Homedepot bag with the home suplies for a project I was avoiding. ...and there were my electrical parts.

Speedway was nice enough to issue credit for the return and it only cost me a dinner out with the wife.

...but if you guys see my carburetor linkage clip I'd appreciate getting it back.

Maybe it's an Italian thing, but when I buy a new tool I brake it's legs so it can't run away
And when I get a new part I bring it peacefully into the garage and show it the old rusted, dented and mangled
Part and tell it " of it knows what's good for it it will stay on the shelf were I put it"

The one the one thing I always run out of and never have enough of is hardware ..... Nuts, bolts, clips etc always go missing or I'm always short just one!

Lost a 5/16ths fine thread set screw for the steering. On a whim I went into the hardware store 25 yards from my house, and bless their inventory-loving hearts, he had some.

Now if only I could find a 1/4" fine thread shoulder bolt. Worst case, I'll grab a 1/4" coarse, cut it down and re-thread it.

One last comment, a couple of years ago I needed my hacksaw, spent the entire morning (seemed like it)looking for it. Finally jumped in the car and headed 10 miles into town and purchased a new one. Got home walked into the garage and there was my old one laying right there in plain sight. Had to be gremilins.

I know where my tools and parts go when I do a test drive on the freeway I hear my tools and parts slide out the bottom of the car and then I see them in my rear view on the freeway but there is to much traffic for me to stop and pick them up because I don't want to get killed for a few tools and parts. I just go home and drink a beer or two and look at my 1959 high school year book that I bought 53 years late on E-Bay.

The above was posted 6-17-12. You guys are off the hook. I took off the tarp that I wrapped the car up in while I painted the firewall and the yogurt cup with the missing bolts was on the front floorboard... just where I left them!! Photos on my website will be updated soon. Next: front floor repair and 4 wheel disc brake installation. Lots more after that: new wiring, front core support, interior, cut the roof off. (whaaaat?)
