Even though I have my '65 that still requires a lot of my attention, and my convertible keeps reminding me that I need to finish painting her, I've got this '66 Caprice that always keeps me thinking how sweet she'd be with some TLC.

looks good main thing is can you see the potential in it? if you can see what can be then worth keeping around.

Tom,
Yep, they've been in my family a long, long time. This one was originally my brother's car... he bought it because the best looking girl in our high school had an Impala that looked exactly like it [which is why I named this beauty Denise]. My '65 used to be my Mom's daily driver, and my convertible was the car she liked to ride in on the weekends.

Those Caprices sure are dolled out all over arent they.I had a 4 door 66 Caprice with the black interior once and was so surprised the huge differences it had between it and the other Impalas I had seen. That car you have in that conditon, with the bigblock and the options I see is a big time KEEPER.

Thanks Greg. I thought you had said at one time that they were family cars. Too bad your Dad can't see it now!
My Dad was interested in cars. He liked the performance ones, but never wanted to ride with me in mine. He always said that I scared him.

LOL Tom, My Dad wouldn't ride with me, either.
My Mom wouldn't ride with me, but she suffered a catastrophic stroke a few years ago, and now she counts on me for the 24 hour care she requires. I'm extremely lucky to have my Mom living with me, even though my home has always had more garage/shop space than living quarters.
My Mom is a true car-girl, and when the new LeMay Museum Link To The LeMay Museum was soliciting money for the custom tile floor, I ordered a tile with my Mom in mind... In Loving Memory of Mom, Georgia. Heart of Gold, Foot of Lead. Yes, my Mom is alive and well... the Loving Memory statement was in reference to the days when my '65 L78 was her daily driver !

My mom married a mechanic/drag racers/motorcycle rider gear head (my dad of course) and still to this day she hates riding with me saying I scare her to death.

hahahaha,
I distinctly remember my Mom doing 70 in a 30 on the way to swim lessons one day... I think the Regal Red on my '65 is more like Arrest Me Red.
Oh yeah, my Mom wouldn't even let me drive home when I passed my drivers' license test on my 16th birthday

That looks like mine, except I have black interior and bench seat with a HD manual three speed originally on the column but now on the floor.
Just like that with no wheel well molding and no vinyl roof either. Mine did come with the cheaper looking hub caps not caprice specific but with a blue bow tie in the center.

I'd keep that Caprice and fix it up. About the only mods I'd even consider would be disc brakes, rear sway bar, HEI as well as 3 point ft seatbelts.

Since the car isn't a numbers matching vehicle, I've always thought about making it a resto-mod... I just love the color & can't bear the thought of getting rid of her, ever

Greg, just pickup a 66 396 out of a fullsize Chevy. Just on the off chance the partial VIN on front pad is 6L159177. Got it in Chelan Wa. I'm not going to use it, would be nice to find car it came from, a real long shot though.
