Just curious as to if anyone has pictures of their factory optional rear power antenna? The 4 door Im tearing down has a switch that pulls down and pushes up on the bottom edge of the dash below the ignition switch roughly. I am not sure 100% but I believe this 4 door has a factory power antenna thats on the right rear quarter panel. If anyone might have some info or pics on the optional power antenna please let me know. I want to save as much as possible off this car that someone can use.
I can get pics of it no problem if needed and would like to see pics of yours if you have it.
The switch Im unsure if its for the antenna yet or not but is the only thing on the car that I havent seen along with the antenna so Im thinking their related.
Thanks

I have never seen one on a full size car. RPO code U75 with a cowl tag code of 2T.
Came standard on Corvette, I believe. The one I restored has one.

The 1966 Corvette antenna is the same except for the mast and it was coated due to its mounting location in the rear wheel well. There's usually a few on eBay. The diagram and info is in the assembly manual, the switch is a metal toggle switch.

I've got a metal toggle switch under the dash just below the ignition switch which operated an electric antenna mounted on the R/H rear quarter panel on my 68 Impala fastback.

Slammed,
I wonder of the push/pull switch you are referring to is the 4-way flasher switch. What color is the knob?

I looked in the trunk real well today and it appears to be a factory harness and mounting set up. I did check out the right frt fender and it appears there was never a radio antenna hole there at all,I looked real well inside the fender. I will try my best to take pics of the antenna and the switch so we can figure this out.
Maybe this is an add on but I will take as many close pics and post as I can, also if I find a broadcast sheet I will feel very good.
Updates to come.

The car has an A/M in it but it appears to have been removed an/or installed a few times.
The switch I stated that was under the ignition facing down has a clear red knob and from what I can tell just might be the emergency flasher as mentioned earlier. I still need to trace wires under the dash.
i did take pictures on my cell phone but have to load them onto photobucket so I can post them here.
The antenna looks so original to me and since the fender has no factory hole at all on the right frt Im almost confident that the car had this from the factory. The further I tear it down I may just find a build sheet so Im crossing my fingers.
As soon as I can post a few pictures I will do so.

Check the cowl tag, if it was a plant that used fisher body codes, the code for the power antenna may be on there

Don't know if this will clear anything up so let's go through this one step at a time. A rear antenna was not available with AM/FM. All AM/FM radios came with a fixed length front right fender 31" antenna. Only with an AM radio could you get a rear manual or rear power antenna. So if this fender never had a hole and was never switched, the car came with an AM radio if the rear antenna whether originally manual or power is original. The power antennas are all dated on the outside casing , so let's see what that date is compared to the date on the cowl tag.

Sounds great guys, wasnt aware the antenna would have a date code like most other parts, very cool.
Its for sure a A/M radio, the frt fender appears to be factory original best I can see.

Brian,
If the push/pull knob is clear red it's definitely the optional hazzard/4-way flasher. A neat item and not real common so hang onto it. Make sure you get the bracket and the screws also. The end that you can't see will have a small rectangular flasher and should be green in color.

Here are the pics rather late but here none the less.
The antenna isnt the same as the one on ebay as shown but if it isnt stock it sure looks like it was factory for some vehicle.

and here is what I thought might have been an antenna switch but was corrected by a member here that its a 4 way flasher so its going to be kept and used if it still works. The knob is clear red.
The picture needs to be rotated as the knob faces down.

Definitely not correct for a 1966 Impala but it is a factory power antenna for another vehicle. Yes on the optionnal or accessory emergency flashers.

Thanks Paul,I appreciate the info. This car either had a normal antenna back there and was replaced at one time with the power unit OR had a stock power unit that was replaced with this one after breakage. Im more leaning towards a stock non power unit getting replaced with this power unit from another vehicle.
I do plan on keeping the no antenna opening frt fender. Well that and anything else thats save-able.
