Trying to decode this but not getting far
tag # is 15511266-7 The first 6 has a - through it
Body# 174676
Trim 863
Paint M
Its a 1966 Chev Bel Air......from Canada....Oshawa i think

but 66-7....don't know and the first 6 had a - through it

Does the Body # just mean the actual number on the assembly line or to the car

Im still learning this decoding stuff so I will learn more with your car too.These guys on this site are very knowledgable and helpful so it will be no time before one of these guys tells you exactly what you cars tag means.

That link/site is a nice one. One thing I wished was on it is the interior letter CODE reference to the colors. Everything else there is dead on.

Here is one I founds that is helpful.it has letter codes for interior colors.

body style is 15511 then body build date has to do with 2 66 7. Maybe 2/7/66. I'm not certain how decode that date. I'll see if I can find out.

The body number is probably the order confirmation number as it is definitely not a sequential body number.
