Where does the coil mount on a 59 tripower? I mounted it to the left (looking in) sitting upright. But tonight I went to put the new harness in the coil wires are too short. Pic would be great.

On a 59 tripower, the coil mounts on the firewall, almost next to the heater box. It also sits almost horizontally, not upright. If you have the 59 Accessory or build manual, it has diagrams. There are actually two small dimples punched in the firewall that are the mounting location.

That was part of the battery cable and is what transferred 12 volts into the car. It goes across the core support and goes onto the regulator on the battery terminal.

So if I swapped to a internal alternator set up. Looks like I have a extra wire...?

Hi Rusty, as Cheviac mentioned... here's a link to the 59 3x2 coil firewall placement if you don't already have it. Run your mouse over the picture in the link & hit (+) to enlarge the view. Link

Also be aware there are a few different coil bracket types out there. With the 3x2 style being the one on the right >>>>
