Looking for another set of Jack Stands. I have a set of Walkers now, but couldn't find any new Walkers for sale anywhere.
Are they out of business?

I try to look for and buy American made products any time I can and don,t mind one bit paying an additional 10%-20%-even 30% more because I know from experience that theres frequently a good deal more quality components than in import clone parts, making the parts well worth the cost difference, there not much point in saving 30% on a part or tool that won,t do the job its designed to do, or one that can,t do its job safely!
but in a side by side comparison the import looked to be better made,
So I think your fighting a lost battle here, the last time I researched this, a decent 10-12 ton rated American made jack stand that has a wide base and can get a car frame 20'-24" off the floor safely, is well over 200$ EACH
Ive used 6 12 ton rated jack stands like these for almost 20 years now in my shop they are well made

Appreciate the info. There are certain times I really like to have American Made products, but I just can't get that image out of my mind of the picture that someone once posted here on CT. I believe it stated: "Check Your Jack Stands". It was a picture of the metal slip lock with a chunk of the Chinese metal broken off. It was still hanging on, but just by a thread and it gave no indication of anything wrong, till the poster took a close look at it. It made me glad I still have my Walkers from the '70's. I'm trying to find some comparable ones. Although I prefer American Metal, I like the idea of the Double-Lock feature on the ones above. I'll have to check them out if I can't find what I am looking for.

FWIW, I had talked to Grumpyvette privately about jack stands a short while ago. This discussion came about from a past thread on the Harbor Freight jack stands. Long story short, HF was running their 12T jack stands on sale each month in their flyer for $89.99 (reg $99.99). I talked to the manager and told him I've been trying to buy them for less since I wanted two sets. He agreed to let me use the 20% off coupons, but it was based on regular price. So, I bought them two weeks ago for $79.99 a set (20% off of $99.99). Would I rather had something American made... yep. Unfortunately, I wanted big jacks and anything else was more expensive and on the web. With shipping weight cost? fuhgedabowdit...

Great selections. Especially like the first two. They look comparable to my Walkers. Thanks Pete.
