http://www.ebay.com/itm/230803573732?ssPa geName=ST...

I see this crossmember has brackets? for each end without holes in the actual crossmember, my croosmember has holes drilled into the crossmember and bolt onto welded brackets on frame. holes are actually in the end of the crossmember that bolts directly into the brackets, the ones in the photo make it look like the frame brackets bolt to the frame and the crossmember sits in rubber mounted brackets? any input here? something does not look right? this crossmember appears to float in the brackets.

another un-answered question is, is the t-400 crossmember is it the same crossmember as the powerglide/ 4 speed crossmember just located about 8-12 inches forward of the t-400 mounts?
my car was originally a p/g car, someone put a t-400 in it, can see where they removed the forward trans welded on mounting brackets, from a further up front spot on the frame and moved them back about 6-8 iches, re-welded them to fit the t-400, I am looking at and have collected some 4 speed conversion parts, but have not gotten a clear answer, the p/g and 4 speed, the brackets should be in the same place?
not where the t-400 is?
is the actual crossmember the same one p/g, 4 speed, t-400/ just needs to be relocated back to the p/g position? as far as the welded "L" brackets go?
I guess I need to know for sure if my t-400 crossmember will work for a 4 speed, just move it forward by cutting the mounting brackets off and re-welding them forward and using the t-400 cross member? are they the same bolt in crossmember? I've asked this question before but never received a definite answer, I need to know if I need to find a p/g - 4 speed crossmember. I know I can relocate the weld on brackets as they were before. does any one have photos of their 4 speed crossmember in or out of the car and measure them? post photos or pm them to me. or if it's easier my home email is Hickle5@cox.net
the photos in the eBay add look similar to my T-400 crossmember but mine have holes on the end where they mount to the frame, the eBay add looks like there are 2 brackets that the crossmember floats in? am I way off here? the frame width looks the same p/g to t-400, just not sure about the crossmember is the same? if not sure, where can I find out this information?

just need some clarity, I know I will have allot more 4 speed questions once I have all the parts together.

Yes, the crossmembers are the same. I am surprised that your frame does not have both sets of brackets installed as both my 65 & 67 have them from the factory.

The x- member in ebay add is from a 1970 fullsize Chevy with t-400, the only year that x-member was used. The Impala frame only had both mounts if it came stock with the T-400 trans. The 65-69 T-400 x-member is the same as the pg-4 speed x-member.

My car was originally a p/g car, a PO cut the mounts off and moved them back to accommodate the t-400.I figured I would cut them off and move them back where thy were, you can see exactly where they were.

2 sets of brackets were only installed on the FACTORY T400 cars. If the car was a PG or manual trans car, it had the production set of brackets.
