just rebuilt a tall deck 427 , started up ran fine until I started to add water then had extreme amounts of white smoke from both exhaust pipes. Everything in the engine is new but obviously something is wrong . any ideas thanks. did compression test tested good only odd ball is I used standard deck manifold with spacers.

Welcome to Chevy Talk from West Michigan!
My suggestion would be to pressurize the cooling system to 10 psi, pull the spark plugs and rotate the engine with the plugs out. The cylinder(s) with water in them will spray water out when turning the engine over. This may help you track the leak down. Good luck!

I agree with Jim, check for coolant leaks.
May have a head gasket leaking into the cylinders. Had that problem on my lil gas saver Toyota. Tons of white smoke and no power goin down the road.

ive never seen the spacers work. they leak water into the intake runners. to fix it right count on buying the right manifold but i have seen one work with a lot of silicone used on both sides.....mike
