I have an 01 extended cab, long story short My brother in law borrowed it and broke the rear window the glass company came and repaired it apparently someone ordered a heated glass for it the guy put it in anyway because it will take a few day to get the plain one in they will take it back out if I want them too but im thinking if it isnt to much trouble Id just as soon wire it up. So my question is does any one know what is involved to wire one up? It has a male connector at each side. Does it get a positive feed at each end or a positive at one end and neg at the other? Does it need a relay? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It's positive on one side and negative on the other. You don't absolutely need a relay, but it would take the load off of the switch. You really just need a switch and wire it to a fused ignition circuit and a good ground. That's all the aftermarket kits use. You won't have a timer like the factory, though. But the wiring may already be in place. A lot of vehicles have wiring for options already there and you can add the option easily. Not sure about your truck, though.

Ok thanks Jay thats what I figured just wasnt sure if the 2 terminals were positive and negative I have a couple timed switches that I took out of cars I junked never knew why I save them but I did lol The guy was real niceabout it he felt bad about but putit in any ways weve had a lot of rain with more to come and he didnt want to leave me without a window and offered to come back and put the right one in but I figured if it wasnt that involved I might as well hook it up, I think it was only available on the Tahoe and Suburban in 2001

No, I have a defroster in my truck ('99 NBS). The Tahoes and Suburbans would be a completely different window since it would be a liftgate.

I see. But yes, defrosters were available on pickups. Like I said, I have a defroster on my pickup. Should be the same circuit layout as the SUV.
