Subject is a 2009 3500HD regular cab wrecker, 193K miles so it's no surprise it has some squeaks and rattles, but this is ridiculous! The other 2009 3500HD we've got that is equipped the same, a few less miles (163K I think) does NOT do this.

Both trucks are equipped with SuperSprings add-on leafs, which are pretty much just an Add-a-Leaf type deal, with rollers at the end of the assembly. There's an explanation of the design and an illustration on this page: http://www.supersprings.com/supersprings_overview _...

So the rear suspension squeaks and creaks like crazy over the slightest bump. Extremely loud. This is bad, considering my wrecker is supposed to be QUIET and SNEAKY. I have discovered by accident that if the suspension gets wet, it shuts up. If it's a rainy night I won't hear a peep out of it. So naturally, I got the idea to shoot it at the car wash a little, and it will be quiet for about 1~2 hours.

With that in mind I went underneath with some CRC "heavy duty" silicone spray, and I mean I emptied an entire brand new can all over in between the leafs (factory and add-on), at the roller, shackles both factory and add-on, sway bar end links and mount bushings, everywhere that looked even remotely like it could move.

Result? It was mostly quiet, for that same 1~2 hour window as if I'd just hosed it down with a buck at the car wash.

I really need for this thing to be quiet, and our "mechanic" at the shop just writes it off by saying "All the Chevys sound like that" which is B.S.!

Ideas?

Why not give this a shot - remove the super springs and see if the noise stops. If it stops, then you know the culprit.

What about Fluid film? or some kind of waxy oil lubricant?

Haven't had time to mess with it, plus the last couple days have been rainy so the truck's been quiet. Now looks like I may not have the chance (or need to) mess with it as I'm getting my truck back - saw it at the body shop today, basically completed except for new lettering which they were in the process of doing.

I have 2002 2500HD. Mine has squeeked since new on the rear. When it is wet its quiet, but will return a few days later. Sometimes when its dry mine will be quiet for weeks then its back. Tried the lube spray thing as well with limited success. Kinda embarrassing when your driving slow by someone, sounds like a ol farm rig.

Well, the "update" is yeah, very shortly after I posted that last message they took me out of that squeaky truck and I'm back in my formerly wrecked 2009 which has about half the miles on it. But now at 115K it's starting to squeak, too... I'm not sure why I thought earlier it was 163K, I must have been confusing it with my '94 extended cab.
