Hi Guys, I'm at the point that I want to put the hood back on my car. I remember seeing a hood spring tool that a fellow member made with some angle iron and some washers and used a floor jack to "tension" the spring. Now I can't find it. I'm looking for some measurments so I can make one. Thanks Jeff

It is also on khardy's site, but I couldn't spot it. I have it in my notes file.

I build two of these out of light wall 2" square tubing. Exhaust tubing works ok too.

The one I did, and is on Keith's site, was made from Rebar. THere are movies on how to put the spring on the tool and how to put the spring on the car.

Bob, I made two from your information, pictures, and instructions, and I must add that they worked perfectly on my '50...You did a great job with that project!

This rebar one works so well it's scary. - scary as in - "that it? It's no/off with no drama?!?!"
The video is very helpful also.

I used the rebar tool as well. Definitely a lot less drama. The video on putting the tool on new spings helped a lot too. On my car, I think I could have used an extra 1/2 inch, for a total of 14.5 inches.

I needed a little more length on mine, so I just welded a nut on the end...instant hole in center and more length.
