Hey, does anybody know how to install dash trim? I need to know how to remove the ring around the headlight knob and around cigarette lighter ring? To put my new insert in, the rest I have no problems with..

Welcome.
What year model? There is a button on the headlight switch that has to be pushed in to pull the knob and shaft (one piece) out. Then the spanner type nut can be unscrewed to remove the bezel. The button is on the top of a 55/56 switch and onthe bottom of a 57 switch. The cigrette lighter has a cover that unscrews off the back of the lighter houseing. Disconnect battery first. Link to lighter.
Picture showing button and knob and shaft.

Thanks for the information on the headlight switch, however how about the ring on the cigarette lighter? Any Tricks I should know about?
It's a 1956 210 Chevy, but I'm adding the bel Air trim.
Thanks for the help .

The ring is part of the houseing assy. The cigrette lighter houseing is held in by the retainer in the link I posted. The retainer is screwed to the houseing on the back of the dash.

i always remove the radio and clock/speaker and the speedometer too because the trim is held in place by them. makes it easier for me. i put some masking tape to hold the new trim in place while installing all the switches, speedo, etc. on the last one i did,the outside corners of the two short end pieces where the screws are were not made correctly and i had to rework them slightly for a better fit and to keep from scratching the paint.

Klaus, You are absolutely correct when you say the ends of the two short pieces are not made correctly. I bought a set from East Coast that are made by Gene Smith and the ends were terrible. East Coast suggested I grind the ends down. I hate to start grinding on a piece of aluminum that I paid $125. for. I have my old pieces on for now. Were you working on 55-56 pieces or 57 pieces? How did the grinding turn out? Tom
