Need help with my 55 2 door HT. It came to me without any emergency brake hardware, so I'm buying the handle, cable, etc for a 55. The rear end and wheels are reportedly from a 67 Camaro. Did the 67-69 Camaro use a similar set up to connect the cable that enters the brake drum and engages the emergency brake arm? Sorry about the nomenclature. I am not ready to take off the drum to inspect, just wanted to know if I am going down a dead end street.
Input appreciated. Larry

Just use the camaro cables at the rear and make an intermediate cable of the required length. Use the camaro connectors to join the three pieces. Everything else would be original 55-57 parts.

Thanks for the suggestions. There are NO cables at all, so I'll just do some south central Texas engineering.

Can you suggest a source for these Camaro cables?? Perhaps one of ChevyTalk sponsors??

Can't recommend any source specifically. Bought mine at a swap meet. Chevelle would work too but are about 3" longer. Some people use the original '55 one-piece rear cable. I went with the newer 3-piece configuration that GM switched to in the '60s and made the middle cable. YOu can buy bulk cable at Home Depot, etc. and make a part to crimp on each end from small diamter steel rod with a cable size hole. The connectors are availabe from the dealer, eBay, and maybe some auto parts stores in the "HELP" parts racks. For the rear cables, maybe try some of the auto parts stores, NAPA? Just for reference, I have an early camaro 12 bolt in both a '55 and a '40.
