I have an '83 with a th 350 from a '76 cheyenne. I went the other way, wanting a cheap reliable trans and not caring much about mileage. When I swapped this trans in I used the supplied 700 R4 cooler lines and "persuaded" them to fit. I do have an external cooler by the way.
I was under the truck recently and see where the lines are rubbing due to being improperly fit and might soon fail. I ordered some lines from inline tube for my application (83 K20 with TH 350).
I guess my question (not to hijack) is how to route the lines on the trans and coolers. Which port on the 350 is in and which one is out? Should the radiator cooler inlet be top or bottom, or does it matter? I'd hate to have the oil flowing the wrong way and not being cooled right. Thanks

Hi Guy,
Bottom line of the transmission to the bottom input of the radiator cooler. Top of the radiator cooler to the bottom of your external cooler. Top of the external cooler back to the top line of the transmission.

OK thanks for the info.
By the way, I hit the new thread button instead of hitting the reply button on that other fellers 700r4 thread. Beer & internet, what a thing!!!

No, the th350 output port is on the top - and that should go direct to the radiator tank (top or bottom, because flow direction doesn't matter through the radiator tank cooler), then the output of the radiator cooler goes to the external cooler (top or bottom). The output of the external cooler goes to the bottom tap on the transmission.
