newbie here and I have a quick question--just replaced my transmission on a 1995 GMC Yukon(due to a big crack in the top of the case near the tail where the transfer case bolts on) drove the vehicle 20 miles and now the new transmission has a bigger crack on the bottom of the transmission case where the transfer case bolts to the transmission.Someone said that the frame is bent causing the transmission to crack and I was wondering how to tell if the frame is bent and if it is how to straighten it.The Yukon has a six inch lift kit(procomp) on it with a 5.7 engine. Any help on this would be appreciated seeing as how I just wasted $800.00 on a transmission.

do you have the driveshaft slip joints greased? If not when the axles move up and down with flex it will exert force on the transfer case cracking the tranny.
I have done this before.

interesting. I havent seen a broken or damaged frame crack one yet, could be just me but I have driven some trucks with nasty broken frames and they just sem to ride smoothly, lol.
Anyway I second checking the slipjoint because of the extra force it would exhert on the trans housing. But you say it is cracking where the transfer case bolts on. Can you post a pic?

thanks for the suggestion of the drive shaft slip joint.I did forget to mention the there was a very noticeable amount of vibrations when under power and when braking. It didn't occur to me that it might be something associated with the drive shaft. Thanks again I am going to check it out tomorrow and see how easy the shaft slides in and out of the transmission.

if its 4x4 check both front and rear. Front should have a splined slip section as well.
The DAs that built my tranny when they had it apart did not check the driveshafts and a week later I broke my housing. Granted their warranty paid for it as it was supposed to be done by them along with Ujoints... But anyways Mine broke where the transfer case meets the tranny on the upper side just above the cross member.
