Hi,how do I go about putting my harmonic damper back on my crank? As my 327 crank has no thread in the nose,I had to use a good puller to get the thing off -and it took some doing!Don`t want to damage anything so some advice would be great.I have fitted a repair sleeve to the damper where it goes in the front cover,it was leaking here.
Thanks from Tony.

Chevrolet shop manual says to use a big hammer. Could drill and tap the crank and pull it on.

Some people put the dampener in the oven at around 200º and pack the crank with ice. It should make it easier to beat the thing on. Don't go any hotter than 200º because there is rubber inside that could get damaged with too much heat.

I don't think the ice is really necessary though. Don't forget to wear thick gloves when you remove the balancer from the oven.

I put a thick piece of steel on the balancer and hit that with the hammer. You get too much bounce with a 2x4.
