Last weekend I installed Jamco 3" loweirng springs and shocks all around. The spring rate is increase 30%. It drives evenn better than before.
I also replaced the D/S support bushing since it was shot.
I got her up on jack stands now to replace my front suspension bushings.

Too low for me, but to each his own. I'd be worried about the geometry of the driveshaft and differential.
How is the ride improved? Cornering? Firmer ride?

The ride is firmer but still very nice. It seems to handle a little better. I am going to try and find a set of V-8 lower control arms so I can run a front sway bar. That, I think would be a great improvrment!! Todd

What about ground clearance issues?Have you gone over any "speed bumps"like in parkinglots?Thinking of going that route.What is the difference between the 2"&3" drop?

Be careful about the ground clearance over speed bumps. My '58 is <2" lower in the front, and last year I ran over a speed bump a little fast (my fault, I was trying to answer a phone call when the speed bump came upon me . . .  ). Anyway, the exhaust bottomed out on the speed bump and cracked one of my rams horn exhaust manifolds! Although I learned my lesson about dropped cars, speed bumps, and cell phones, I took the opportunity to get the replacement manifolds ceramic coated. The silver lining, I guess . . .

I definitely agree with your views on stock ride height there.. I always figure that the people who designed these cars did what they did with a purpose in mind and they were meant to handle safely in their stock configuration. That's just my opinion though. It looks like a really pretty and decent car - reminds me of a white '60 2 door Biscayne that I wanted to buy when I was a kid. It was sitting in a farmer's field and I used to stand and gaze across the fence at that car an imagine great things. It was a really, really clean car and not that old yet - this was back around 1970. It's hard to beat the '59's and '60's for outright beauty and sex appeal!!

not sure I want to go down 3", but 2" maybe really help the ride & look.
do you know how tall your tires are?
I've got 15" rims on mine (don't recall the tire size). I'm just trying to get an idea.

Here is a link to where I got the lowering kit. I've put quite a few miles on the car since I put it in. I've even had a car full of people on a few ocassions. I am still TOTALLY happy with it!!

Love the way yours sits...
Hate having to wait, but it'll be worth it.

After driving with a lowered stance for almost a yr..i ordered stock height coil springs.tired of a ruff ride&tailpipes scraping on dips.Want to worry less&enjoy my car more.
FYI: last straw was when the exhaust was damaged cuz it was "too low"---

thanks for letting us in on your problem. sometimes people post what they did, and we never hear back about issues they may have had.
we can still get this if we want, but now we know it's not all good!!
i was going to get this kit based on what was being said at the time. now i'm glad i didn't.
moog still makes stock spring for my car, and that is what i put in it. it it sets too high, that's what they make cutoff wheels for, right?

Mine have been on for a year also. The only thing I have scraped it the bottom of my tailpipe backing out of my driveway. I am going to add a dual exhaust and a set of Bellflower tips. My only real issue is where to route the pipe that goes to the passenger side of the car without having it to low.

Went to harbor freight and bought one of those low profile high lift floor jacks.Maybe these will help.See how the pipe is "tucked up"so the frame is the lowest point now

Thanks Danny,
The pics help ALOT!!! I have a OEM Vette dual exhaust manifoly I am going to use.
Did you go with the Jamco Springs? I put over 5K on my car last somemer with no problems. Sorry to here of your troubles.
Also, I picked up a Carter YF 3211S to replace the origimal Rochester. LOVE IT!!!!! Night and day difference.

Only v8's had front sway bars? My wagon was a 6 with a front sway bar, so it must be a wagon thing.
Thanks for the pics. I decided to do a 2" drop on my wagon-I figure its an easy fix to go to 3", not too easy the other way around.
Unfortunately the 283 wont be going in until fall so I really have no idea what it will look like until then..
By the way, Im guessing this is Rebel wire Todd? Thanks again for the harness-thats a great product you sell!
