Hey Guys, I need some help. I am to the point of putting the carpet back in my coupe. I have done EZCool on the firewall and I’m going to put carpet over the EZCool, Not putting the fiber board on. It will be carpet down the firewall to meet the carpet from the floor. My problem is, I need to see some carpet installs to get some ideas of how you guys did it.
So, If you have any pictures of your carpet installed I would like to see them. It would help me visualize how to do mine. I need to see some of your creative ideas.
Thanks in advance, Johnnie

Thanks, Ray. I am going to bring carpet down the firewall to lay over the floor carpet or bring the floor carpet up over the firewall carpet. Just not sure which way will work and look the best. Thank you for the pictures will help me visualize the lay of the land so to speak.

if you still have your old fibre board and carpet and its not destroyed there is a product that i used in one of my rides in the past called "carpet overlay" its carpet but without and backing, you glue it down to your existing carpet or under padding.
that way you can have carpet all the way up the fire wall and it will still look and hang the same as stock. kinda like "stock plus"

Good ieda Daniel, but I had to tear up my old pad getting it out. I have put 2 layers of EZcool on the inside of the fireall and plan on putting the carpet on it. I am going to use the holes in the firewall where the pad was attached to fasten it. I just dont know how to make it look good at the transsition. I saw some like that and it is what gave me the idea to do it. They looked really good. I just can't find the pictures of them now.
By the way, how are you doing on your car? I know the house and family come first but are you getting anything at all done to it? I haven't touched my Jag to get the IFS out, haven't had time.
Thanks again, Johnnie

When I did the 49 and I plan on doing it the same on my 51, I used EZkool also. For the carpet, on the center above the trans cover, I just glued black indoor-outdoor carpet to the EZkool and ran it a couple inches on either side of the upper firewall on the edges. Then on the upper part above the toe boards, I took 1/8" hard board, cut it to shape to fit around the vent openings, steering column, e-brake handle, heater and AC hose bulkhead fittings, etc. I made one panel for each side and then screwed it to the firewall. I made the bottom edge even with the seam where the toe board meets the vertical of the firewall. Then the carpet from the floor just tucked up under the bottom edge of each of the panels.

This is the Kool Seal coating that has been applied to the floor.
This is the EZ Cool and you can see the carpeted panels under the dash.
You can just see the edge of the floor carpet in this photo. I thought it tucked up under the front panel, but in this photo it looks like it was on top of the front panel. The floor carpet I believe was from NCA that the PO had put in the car.

Thanks, Bill. I think I see what you did, looks good. I am putting a Gen IV Vintage air in and think I'm going to have to have the carpet behind it. I am trying to get it as flat behind the dash as I can. I may try to do something like you have done though.
Thanks for the info, you guys on here are a wealth of knowledge and ideas.

Thanks for the input. This is what I was talking about for the firewall carpet. I got the firewall carpet back from the upholsterer today. Stuck it in to see what it looked like, this is the look I was shooting for. Got a couple of wrinkles but I just have the A/C stuck up in there.
Got the back seat in too.
What do you think?

Johnnie: I got you PM.
That is a really clean look on the firewall!!!! I like it. Are you doing the a/c next? The way you are going you'll have it running for the wedding with no problems.

Thanks, La Mar. Finish the wiring, mount the Throttle, drill the holes for the A/C vents and then plumb the A/C. At least that's the game plan. I plan to work on it all day tomorrow.
Are you still on for your trip Saturday?
