My dad thought it would be the bright orange, but mine was black when we pulled it off. All rusty with a little bit of black paint and some of the graphics left. I need to know, i'm probably painting it tomorrow (cleaned up and primered).

I have a 1965 engine with a orange painted oil filter canister. My 1962 has a black one. I don't know when they switched from black to orange. If you want it to look good and have the color last, consider having it powder coated.

It is a 58. I will paint it black, then. Thanks!
It would be nice if I could powdercoat it, but i simply do not have the funds to do that right now.
