Well after about 850hrs of nit picking body work,(possibly more,I have it all written down)and some mistakes,The ol' girl is wearing some new color today.
Not quite done though.I went through 5qts of color coat,(counting the firewall, door jambs, dash, inside the trunk, under sides of the hood and deck lid)and the 3 coats I put on the body today,I ran out of paint before I got to the 2 splash pans, and my interior garnish mouldings. One more quart should do it.
The top is called Stone White, and the body is Amber Fire Pearl met. Both are 2000 Chrysler colors.I'll get more pics up when the "wrapping paper" comes off tomorrow.Hope you like it

Scrolling down through the first couple of pictures I wasn't too impressed with the color and then I hit the clear coated shots....WOW that looks great!! Nice work. I hope my car turns out this nice when I get to this point.

I was going to go with the Amber Fire Pearle but after I saw you we're using it I searched for a different rusty/orange color. I still love your color. Hope mine looks as good. I only wish I had your paint booth!

It sure does look nice, pretty color too. I'm a big fan of two tone paint on these older chevy's. You can surely tell that a lot of hours are into this car.

Thanks guys. The paint job did come out fairly nice. But what you don't see in the photos,is the orange peel that I have to wet sand out in stages.
Still alot of work ahead of me.Glass, interior, and all the trim have to go back on. Hopefully by the middle of June(when school lets out) I can't afford to go back there AGAIN.
I figure if I get the final sanding/polishing,and the glass put back in,I can put the rest of it back together at home.I'd like to finish it in a nice shop though.

Well folks, this is what I've been up to for the past week.More wet sanding. The new clear coat has a orange peel look to it that I won't tolerate. Some people say "it's no big deal, all the new cars have it". Well I say "if I wanted it to look like a new car...I would have got one" After all the prep work I put in this thing,I don't want the paint to look like it was painted by a factory robot, and sent out the door.
So I started out with 1000 grit, then 1500 wet sanding(by hand, soap, and lots of water) The hood, all the right side, the trunk lid, along with that short panel between the trunk lid,and the rear splash pan,are sanded down to 1500grit.
I did a "test buff" on top of the right front fender to see if the 1500 marks were gone or not, with rubbing compound...I don't see any.
Still have the left side to sand, then buff out the WHOLE CAR.Then comes a little bit more painting of some small parts(splash pans, and interior stuff) The real tough part will be putting all the new glass back in,and the reassembly process
