""Let me begin by saying that I've been lurking in these forums for the last 4 years since I purchased my 64 Chevy Impala SS. You guys are the most professional individuals on any board I've found.""
After trashing real hard for 96 hours and doing so only 5 hours of sleep, I finished the car in time for it's debut at the Calgary World of Wheels event where I got it in about 6 hours late, but completed to the nines. Here's some pictures as I moved in today. Enjoy!

The car has been very well received at the show and the comments on the color choices have been quite favorable. It's classed in Modified Street Machine and a crowd favorite thus far. Here's a picture showing the car and the display. I'll let all y'all know how it does in the end.

Wow, what a build. Long winters come in handy. Mott Hollow

Absolutely awesome....but do I foresee a lot of wandering around kickin' sticks and pebbles and wondering what to do next coming up? You can only clean up your workshop so many times now that the car's finished........

Procrastination; the one thing I never put off until tomorrow.
Hey guys...been pretty busy with the show the last few days but thought I'd post up to let you know how it did. The car was very well received and the accolades on the build were plentiful, and all positive. Did pretty well with the hardware too and will include a few pictures here from this past weekends show. I'll be heading to my office later in the day to put together a high def video of the show and can tell you that it will also represent at the Autorame show in Winnipeg which is mid March.
Here's how it did with the hardware it's first time out. Best of Class (Custom Street Machine), Outstanding Display, Outstanding Street Machine, as well as placed Top 10 with Mequiar's for an official entry into their Sema Contest which starts online for Canadian entries May 1st. That selection came with a limited edition print for their top 50 picks across Canada, and the online contest is pure voting versus the other cars for a chance to represent Canada as an official Sema entry and be shown in the Meguiar's booth at Sema. Winners will also do an episode with Car Crazy's Barry Meguiar in the fall.
I didn't replate my bumpers because they looked good in normal light, but under the indoor sodium lamps, they looked horrible so that cost me some points and a Jim Leslie nomination. Got a couple little things to prepare and clean up for the next show where it may do better, and I will replate the bumpers sometime next week.
Reviews, accolades and feedback from the public were over the top, and I really enjoyed doing the show. Also got Chip Fooses autograph at the show as he complimented the build and signed a print I had done for buddies who helped on the build.

(hardware won at the World of Wheels in Calgary)
(Gift from Mequiar's as being one of their Top 10 picks)

Display board is Stainless. It's has a tail bent back that allows me to drive a front wheel onto it so it holds still in the wind. Thought that out in advance.
Calgary and Winnipeg shows are still part of ISCA and are not privatized as some others are. I will be in Winnipeg with the car in March.

Thanks Paul, and Alan too. You should've caught me at the booth for a better look Alan. No doubt you will see it around later this summer including Wednesday nights at the Grey Eagle Casino. I just emailed a few friends with some video of the car on youtube so here's a look at the show that just wound up. Enjoy

I'm about to focus in on a couple weak spots like the bumpers because they cost me points last week and need to be redone. While they look good under my lighting and have been redone years ago, they looked real bad under the Sodium Lighting and clearly have room for improvement so off they come for replating. We're also going to wet sand a couple spots where the clear is too thick and get a better finish so it competes better come the next round which is only 3+ weeks away. Once dialed in and tweaked here and there, it should compete on a higher level and perhaps steel a show. Wish me luck on round two, and enjoy those video links I posted earlier.
I'll have more video going up on my website throughout the week.

Congrats Gascan, really enjoyed the video and following the build. Good luck on the next one. Not sure what you mean about the clear coat being to thick in a few spots, does it just not look flat?
