i have a 65 chevy truck was intersted in converting to a one piece window. what is the best kit to buy.

did anyone do this before? if so any pictures or tips to get it done thanks.

I do not believe there is a kit... but hilandr451 did it to his truck, lots of pics on here or somewhere...

actually, I have seen this as a tech article in a magazine, Classic Trucks I think it was last year, I don't know how you could search for this. I believe it involved a kit from one of the big parts sellers, Like LMC truck parts, check online. You have to cut out the rear section up to the roof and down the sides, and weld in the new parts kit. It can be done.

i did some searching tody and found that no limit engeering sells a complete kit including the felt and everything for around 400. it can be used with the stock regulator or a electric motor upgrade they sell as well

I kind of like the look without the ventilator. I took this photo when I was installing new felts and fuzzies. But to me the vents are part of the neat iconic features of these old trucks.. and I am one of those guys that likes changing stuff. Guess it's all good I decided to keep 'em.



It would be interesting to see the kit. I wonder how they attach the front track, and if the regulator arm is modified to lift the window at its center point?
If you can't stand behind our troops, perhaps you should stand in front of them!

I ordered the one from No Limit Eng. It was very complete. Glass ,felts,wipers and most importantly, window stabilizers. I will explain their function. Our doors (64-66) angle in at the top at the front and at the back. With the wing vent in place. When you roll it up and down the front of the glass stays seated in the front channel attached to the wing vent. when you go to one piece glass, as soon as you roll the window down just an inch or so the glass is just barely riding in the channels. Without stabilizers the glass would just flop around in the channel. They weld on to the bottom of the receptacle that holds the door glass and extend below it and into the channels up against the felt. With these in place the window is very stable.
I mention these because I encountered, while I was shopping for glass. Shops that sell the glass only. Yes they were cheaper but no cool instructions or extra parts.
As far as the install. It was a pretty tough mod. Once you get the wing vent out. You cut the channel off the at the bottom of the vent. Now in order to get at the inside of the door you have to cut an access hole. I cut mine out with a plasma cutter, nice and clean then welded tabs with nuts on it so I could re-install it. (see photo) You must then gut the inside front area of the door so that the channel you cut, has a path directly below what is now the front channel in the door. There is a lot of measuring,fitting and refitting. Once you get the stabilizers welded on,and the glass mounted in the frame. You think ,"That is never gonna fit in the door" and it just barely does.
I also used the power window kit that No Limit recommends. To me it was worth the struggle to do the Mod. I think it looks clean.

I was gonna say - Highlander didn't do a one piece conversion. He likes his wind wings!!!
