I just bought two tires for my 1969 Impala, and I am disappointed in how they look. So I'm hoping for some feedback and suggestions on a couple things.
First, here are the pics: (Only one of the new wheel/tires is installed - the black rally with BFG Radial T/A. I'll share my thoughts after the pics.)

Okay... my car obviously needs some work. But it is my daily driver, and for now I'm trying to improve it with better wheels and tires.

I have a set of original GM rally 15x7 wheels, which are powder coated black.
Yesterday I bought a pair of BF Goodrich Radial T/As for two of the rims. I went with 235/60r15 and thought they would look good.

But after I mounted the first wheel, I thought the tire looked way too small in my large wheel well. I also think that black is definitely the wrong choice for wheel color, considering the current body condition.

A few questions:

1. Do you guys think a 70 series would work better? Like a 235/70r15?

2. I am now thinking of spray painting the rally wheels silver/gray and installing beauty rings and police caps. Thoughts??

3. I like the look of rally wheels, but I'd love to hear any other thoughts or ideas on what might be a good fit for my car, wheel-wise and tire-wise, considering it's current body condition. I would also love to get a little wider stance from the wheels, but still use 15x7 in front...

Thanks for looking
Andy

I think 60's look great, but bigger sized 60's. At least 255/60/15. I ran 265/50/15 on 15x8 Rally wheels on mine and they had plenty of room front and rear.

Cool thanks Oldsman52. Is your car a 69 Impala as well?
I assume I'll be able to run 255/60r15's without any rubbing issues? I do have 2 inch drop spindles on the front (disc brake conversion.)

If your car was black the black ralleys would be okay. So yes, paint them argent silver and add the beauty rings and caps. Do the same on the rear also. Will look sharp.

Thanks guys.
I think I'm leaning toward the 235/70r15 BFG T/As.
Does anyone happen to know if I would have rubbing issues, since I'm running 2" drop spindles?
