My last project, if time and health permitts will replace final drive with a 3:70 out of a 54 I have this summer.

I did replace the final drive with a 3:70 out of a 54 stick and trans out of a 46 because the vacuum shift had been a problem for 3rd gear syncro,when I opened removed trans found the snap ring that holds the syncro in place had disconnected.Perhaps I may tare down as time permits.Original 216 running very well though on hot day vapor lock a problem.
