Hey Gang, Hope all are doing well.. I was wondering if Grady or any of you guys have done the Cruisin the Coast in Mississippi before.. I have been noodling on that show, and I am starting to think it might be a great new alternative vacation for a couple of empty nester's like me and momma.. But I would like to talk to some folks who have been to it and know the ropes shall we say.. Im gonna have to finish my complete car overhaul before I can do it, but Its never to early to start planning as they say..

We have never gone to that cruise but several of our friends have and claim that it is better than sliced bread. We are registered to the cruise on the Boardwalk in Ocean City Maryland and plan on driving the WW up for it if we can ever get thru with this Stainless Change out. Had to send 11 pieces out of 16 back to the polisher and waiting on it to be returned. This was all NOS trim and when I got it back the curve on several pieces had been reversed from the way it was orginial, go figure, if I am trying to do some improvement it is tough. Ain't Hot Rodding Fun.

My opinion might be considered biased since I live here, but if you are a car nut, you will get tingles up your leg if you come to Cruisin' The Coast. It's better than sliced bread, it's almost as good as sex.
The wife and I have worked as volunteer staff at several venues of Cruisin' The Coast for 10 years. This year we are probably going to just enjoy cruising.

Been twice, got the t-shirt. It is a parade on the coast highway all day and night. Everyone just pulls up a chair on the side of the road and enjoys the show. Several venues with large gatherings of vehicles also for your viewing pleasure.

Sorry to hear you are having trim troubles shall we say.. Remind me not to use that polisher when I get to that point.. Im guessing NOS is the only way to get some of that Brookwood trim.. I figured a veteran Hot Rodder such as yourself had been to all the shows at one time or the other..

Last year there were almost 4900 registered cars. They usually estimate the un-registered cars at 1200-1500.
Need more 58s! I usually only 6-7 each year.

Boy that would really be cool, Have a bunch of the gang on the Miss Gulf coast for a week long Cruise In !!
Momma says I have to make time for some great seafood, and a little shopping, but otherwise she is good to go !! If she buys a lot of stuff we could use the back of the WW to haul it home !!
Seriously it would be a load of fun if we could get a bunch of us down there for the event.. Be like in our old High School days when a bunch of us all went to Myrtle Beach at the same time !!

I think I smell a plan in the works.. Wendy is even starting to get with the idea.. We were talking about it hauling the stuff over to my Step Moms, and she got agitated when she realized I was talking 2012. She yelled " I thought we were going this year !"..

This is the same answer I got from Echo, We have time to do Ocean City and the Coast thing if WW can make it OK. Still haven't got the trim back from plater for the second and third time on some pieces. How can a plating shop mess up NOS trim???Easy I guess

I really want to do it, but I gotta do my Imp overhaul first,, She just has a few to many issues to risk a trip that far right now.. Like 46 year old wiring for one.. If the Good Lord is willing, she will be a brand new car about 1 year from now.. Got my fingers crossed..

Yea, Hes gotta bring the 58 to hook up with Yenipenny..
On a serious note, The cruise says they do not allow vehicles less than 25 years old, But James said you can apply for an exemption and submit your vehicle for consideration if its newer.. What they don't want according to him is stock late model stuff like Corvettes and Camaros etc, And James is in the Corvette club.. I described the L to him with the Ghost flames and all the mods, and he was pretty sure they would accept it no problem.. You may have a different vehicle by then but either way you can still GO!!!

How about some specifics on where to stay, motels, etc. The Coast is a long way and I have no idea where to head for much less where to stay at.

Hey Sir.. Send a PM to Yenipenny. His name is actually James, he is farther up in this thread. He actually lives in Biloxi Miss, and has been a participant in hosting and putting on this cruise for years. Very nice gentlman, and he can tell you anything you need to know.. Also the cruise's website has a bunch of info too,
www.cruisinthecoast.com
It has info on host hotels, and the whole schedule for the event etc !!

Easiest way to get here is to get on I-10 to Mississippi. Then take any exit to go south to Hwy 90.
You want to stay as close as possible to the Biloxi/Gulfport beach areas.Hwy 90 runs along the beach for almost the entire Mississippi coast.
Hwy 90 is where most of the C.T.C. activities occur.
Also where the best lodging can be found. All the big chain hotels/motels are here.
I'd make reservations well in advance if possible-they fill up fast!3 months in advence will get the best lodging. They're usually full-up by the month before.
Also, plenty of motorhome/travel trailer parking off the beach area.
It always runs from Sunday to Sunday, the best time to be here is Friday and Saturday-most people, cars and action!
I'm about 25 miles east in the Pascagoula area and been every year!
If any may need breakdown help,I offer it every year.I can tow and have a large shop with tools.
P.M. me for my number if you think you may need help (within reason).
Mike.
