I have bought what I believe is the correct trans I need for my 2001 sierra 1500 2wd. The new trans has the code 3chd. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from my research this came from a 2003 2wd c1500 or g2500. This should be the same as my 2001 (tag is missing but from my understanding should be 1chd). Does anyone have any input or advice on this? Or have I correctly gathered the parts I need?

A G2500 transmission is a 4L80E and your truck needs a 4L60E for a C1500.

apparently from the information I found, the g2500 with a 5.3 has the same 4l60e as the half ton, it's the 6.0l that has a 4l80e

So the information I found is correct, this is out of a 2003 g2500 van with a 5.3l. Can anyone confirm if this trans will fit in my 2001 gmc reg cab shortbox 2wd?

Thanks for the help everyone, the local gm dealership FINALLY confirmed that this transmission is a direct swap into my 01. I believe he said 99-04 is all the same. I thought it would be more like the earlier 4l60e that changed something every couple of years!
